Is The Haze Dual v3 Worth the Upgrade?

In the world of portable vaporizers, you’re pretty limited when it comes to material type. Most vaporizers only do one or the other – dry herbs, liquids or concentrates. And if you can use more than one material type, you usually have to attach an adapter to switch it up.

The Haze Dual v3 is different. This is the first portable vaporizer that lets you use dry herbs, oils or liquids, and concentrates interchangeably and all within the same session. That’s pretty revolutionary.

But is it worth the upgrade?

Let’s take a closer look at how the Haze Dual v3 works and what makes it different.

How Does the Haze Dual v3 Work?

haze portable vaporizer

Most of you are probably wondering how the Dual v3 lets you use both dry herbs and concentrates or liquids in the same session.

The answer: a dual bowl.

I know what you’re thinking: that’s not exactly revolutionary. But it is. Here’s why:

  • Each bowl is separated by stainless steel walls, allowing each bowl to heat up at different temperatures.

Haze didn’t just throw two bowls into their design and call it a day. They designed the Dual v3 so that you can heat up each material type to the correct temperature, so combustion is never an issue.

Once your herbs, liquids and/or concentrates reach your desired temperature, the heat exchange mechanism gets to work to allow for a cool vapor output.

The Dual v3 offers 4 different temperature settings, which are each displayed using the LED indicators on the front of the device.

  • There are four dry herb temperature settings: 365°F, 380°F, 390°F and 415°F.
  • There are two oil/wax temperature settings: 390°F and 415°F.

Temperatures can be selected by pressing the selector button on the top of the device (right next to the mouthpiece).

Haze’s patented heating technology allows for a lightning fast heat up time of 60 to 90 seconds, so you’ll be ready to vape in less than 3 minutes.

And when you’re ready to vape, all you have to do is adjust the height of the mouthpiece to get started.

As far as battery life goes, this vaporizer features an external lithium-ion battery that is long-lasting and rechargeable.

What Makes the Haze Vaporizer v3 Different?

[alert-note]Aside from the dual bowl future, what makes this vaporizer different from any other ones on the market?[/alert-note]

For one thing, you have options when it comes to heating style. Haze provides both a conduction screen and a convection screen. The convection screen is surrounded by four stainless steel walls, which prevents any direct contact with the heating chamber. The conduction screen leaves two sides open, which provides controlled exposure to the heating chamber.

Another unique feature that this vaporizer offers is pre-pack cans. These cans allow for On-The-Go vapers and the ultimate in portability. All you have to do is pack these cans in advance, and you never have to worry about prepping for cleaning while you’re out and about.

Haze has also taken steps to improve the Dual v3.

handheld vape

A new temperature regulator allows for more precise temperature control, and will no longer be affected by humidity, altitude, air pressure or outside temperature. Both the dry material and concentrate canisters have been redesigned to promote airflow in the dry material canister and trap liquids, and concentrates in the concentrate canister to prevent leaking.

Perhaps the greatest thing about this vaporizer is its durable construction. The inner housing surface is made with high temperature resistant fiberglass. On the door of the device, there’s a heavy-duty steel heater seal to maintain the appropriate temperature at all times.

There’s a lot to love about this vaporizer, but is it worth shelling out $250 for?  Let’s look at the good and bad about the Dual v3.

Is this the Best Handheld Vaporizer Ever Made?

When build quality and American innovation merge, you end up with a quality product with a company that stands behind their product.  That is exactly what Haze Technologies have done with each iteration of the Haze Dual.   The 10 year warranty is almost unheard of in the vape industry.  That alone, should tell you that price tag is well worth your investment.

The Good

  • Easy to use
  • Heats up incredibly fast
  • Allows you to use dry herbs, oils, and concentrates interchangeably
  • Highly portable
  • Pre-pack canisters allow you to pack up your bowl before you leave, so you never have to worry about proper cleaning while you’re out and about
  • Dual bowls allow for individual temperature settings
  • 10-year warranty – the best warranty out there

The Not-so-Good

  • Can’t use both chambers at the same time (Yes, we are being picky here)

Many of you may have been hoping that you could use both chambers at the same time. Unfortunately, you can only use one chamber at a time. They are interchangeable, and once you’re done vaping with one, you can switch to the other chamber. Both chambers can be vaped using any material type at your desired temperature.

Haze Vaporizer

The inability to use both chambers at the same time is a bit of a disappointment, but understandable. And truthfully, I’m not really sure if being able to vape both at the same time would really provide any benefits anyway.

The freedom having both options gives you though cannot be understated.  Not having to carry around and charge different vapes for different materials is a true luxury that you don’t realize you like until you have it.

What the Dual v3 ultimately offers is a custom vaporizing experience. Whether you’re looking for a medical marijuana vaporizer or a portable model for aromatherapy purposes, the Dual v3 can do it all.

If you only care about vaporizing one material type – dry herbs, oils or concentrates – this vaporizer may not be worth it for you and you might want to consider a dedicated device for your material preference.

But if you’re the type who switches between dry herbs, oils and concentrates often, it’s definitely worth upgrading to this vaporizer. If you want the ultimate in versatility, get the Dual v3. For most people, it’s absolutely worth the upgrade. And with cool vapor and an easy draw, each new vaping session is better than the last.

Dr Dabber Boost eRig

Dr. Dabber’s Boost eRig offers portability without sacrificing functionality or taste. The best enail on the market, the Boost Vaporizer heats up quickly, contains a titanium nail and offers 50 – 60 uses on a single charge of the battery.

boost by dr. dabber

I was lucky enough to take this model for a test drive, and I’ll share my experience in my Boost eRig Review.

Let’s take a quick look at the features first:

Dr Dabber Boost eRig Features

  • 50 – 60 uses per charge
  • 30 second startup time
  • Water filtration system
  • Titanium nail
  • Oil and wax capability
  • Magnetic loading tool

If you’re a fan of the dabbing experience, this is the right vaporizer for you.

Boost eRig Review

dr dabber boost erig

When the Boost was delivered to my house, I found that it included a lot of extras in the box. Dr. Dabber gives you literally everything you need to get started with this unit. You’ll find the following items in the box:

  • 2 domeless titanium nails
  • Carb cap (magnetic)
  • Loading tool (magnetic)
  • 2 storage containers
  • Charging unit
  • Glass water attachment

As you can see, everything you need is included, so you can get started with vaping almost immediately.

I’ve tried a lot of vaporizers in my time, and this model is simply different.

Dr. Dabber states that this is a completely new model that has never been made before. And they weren’t kidding; this is a completely new type of vaporizer.

Let’s take a closer look at all the features of this model:

Battery Life and Charging

Small and compact, this unit features a 2500 mAh battery that holds its charge for 50 – 60 uses. This is spectacular considering you’ll only take 10 – 20 hits from the unit at one time. Charging the battery is simple, too. A mini USB cord is included and will be your main source of charging.

If you need to vape quickly, simply plug in the unit, and in less than 20 minutes, you’ll be able to use it for at least one hit.

Charging takes 2 hours (approximately) when the unit has been fully depleted.

Start Up and Settings

Boost Enail review

Boost is advanced, but it features a simplistic design. You won’t be using herb with this model, so there are no heat settings involved. Wax and oil are used to produce your vapor, and once you press the button to turn the unit on, you’ll want to do the following:

  • Wait for the blue light to illuminate (30 seconds)
  • Load directly onto the nail

That’s it! You’ll be vaping in no time. If you used any of the other models from Dr. Dabber, you know that they use a glass water filtration system to enhance the taste of your vapor. After all, this is a true dabbing system.

The glass water attachment allows you to mimic this precisely.

Never before have I used an enail that was able to produce this level of vapor. And I think that the reason this unit works so well is because of the water filtration system. It will taste just as good (or better) than a desktop vaporizer, and you can fit it perfectly in your bag or backpack.

It’s small, and very portable.

Like I mentioned earlier, the Boost eRig does not sacrifice quality.

Loading is a Breeze

Oil and wax will be loaded directly onto the titanium nail. The domeless nails are included (2 in total), and there’s even a magnetic loading tool available. Simply place your concentrate on the loading tool, and you’re good to go.

boost erig

The magnetic carb cap will protect the unit when it’s not in use.

I should also mention that there’s also a medical grade storage container (two, actually) included with the Boost. This is the perfect place to store your concentrate when it’s not in use, and it helps maintain the flavor and potency of your concentrate.

Ceramic is Coming

Many people want a ceramic model, and the manufacturer has stated that they are working on it. While the main website and other sources do not mention some of this information, the manufacturer has been present on many forums and has said the following:

  • The eRig heats up to 700° with three clicks of a button
  • The unit holds a 50 – 60 dab charge (30 second dab duration)

You’ll also be able to swap out the titanium nail with the ceramic nail, according to the manufacturer. This is still a very new product, and while we have used it already, we weren’t sure just how hot it got internally.

Even at 700°, this unit will not burn your concentrate, leaving you with an exceptionally long lifespan for your concentrate.

Pros

  • Very easy to load
  • Exceptional flavor
  • Long battery charge

Cons

  • Can’t utilize herb

The only complaint I have about this unit is that you can’t utilize herb; just wax and oils. But the manufacturer is clear about this, and it’s not much of an issue. If you’re a medical marijuana user, many concentrates now have THC in them so that you can use this for medicinal purposes as well as recreational purposes.

The Boost eRig has revolutionized the way that portable vaporizers work.[heading subtitle=””]

It would be an understatement to say that this is the best enail on the market today – it’s out of this world. [/heading]

When you own a Dr. Dabber, you’ll also find that the customer support is top notch and that the company is always trying to be innovative. On top of all this, they actually listen to their customers.

If you’re on the market for a portable vaporizer, I highly recommend the eRig.

KandyPens K-Vape Micro-DX

Looking for a portable vaporizer that offers convection heating?

The KandyPens K-Vape Micro-DX is one of the only truly portable vaporizers that offers True Convection Technology.  With a digital display, precise temperature control and a 3-4 hour battery life, the Micro DX may just be the best vaporizer under $200.

KandyPens Micro-DX

Features at a Glance

What does the Micro DX offer that other vaporizers don’t? Just take a look at its lengthy feature list:

  • True Convection Technology – no combustion
  • Micro-digital portable vaporizer
  • Precise temperature controls between 350° and 430°
  • Digital OLED display
  • 5g anodized aluminum chamber
  • 3 to 4 hour battery life
  • Smart Memory Technology that remembers your last temperature setting
  • Micro USB charging port
  • Five-minute automatic shut off safety features
  • Lifetime warranty
  • BPA free
  • 130 mm tall and 27 mm wide
  • Dry herb compatibility

The Micro DX is everything that you want in a desktop vaporizer, but in a completely portable unit. Sure, there are other high-end portable vaporizers out there that use convection heating and have similar features, but most are expensive and some are quite large. The Micro DX is compact and affordable – just under $200. And it’s small enough to fit in your back pocket, although still larger than some units out there.

Is the Micro DX the best dry herb vaporizer?

We think so, but to prove our point, let’s take a look at how this unit works.

How the K-Vape Micro DX Works

kandypens-micro-dx-for-sale

At first glance, this vaporizer doesn’t look like anything special. With a matte black finish, its appearance is nothing to write home about. But once you turn on the OLED display, everything changes.

Like other portable models, the Micro DX turns on after pressing the power button five times in a row.

Immediately, the OLED display will illuminate with your last set temperature as well as the remaining battery life. The digital display is a unique feature that most other portable models don’t include, especially in the mid-price range.

Heat-up time is lightning fast – 30 seconds or less. And if you want to adjust the temperature, all you have to do is press the “+” or “-“ buttons located just below the power button. The Micro DX offers an incredible temperature range of 350° and 430° (that’s over 80 different settings), so you’ll be able to choose a temperature that works best for you.

The higher the temp, the denser the clouds will be. But even at cooler temperatures, this unit outperforms the competition.

[alert-announce]Speaking of clouds – this unit produces huge ones. [/alert-announce]

For a moment, you might feel as if you’re smoking.

Even when you have the unit set on a low temperature, the clouds are thick and you maximize your session by getting the most out of your herb. The best part is that you can adjust the temperature accordingly, so you can experiment and find the right temperature for your own unique tastes.

The Micro DX also comes with a huge filling chamber – 0.5g. That is one of the biggest chambers on the market – even compared to some of the top-selling portable vaporizers out there.

Built with True Convection Technology, your herbs will never burn or combust during use – that’s a difficult feat for any portable vaporizer. At the end of the session, you’re left with golden brown herbs that were evenly heated.

Kandy Pens includes all of the accessories you need to start vaping right out of the box, including: USB-to-micro USB charging cable, cleaning brush, and a packing tool. All you need is some herb, and you’re good to go.

One thing we do have to point out is that this unit is not compatible with liquids or waxes. You’ll only be able to use the Micro DX with dry herbs, and as far as we can tell, there are no accessories available that would allow use for liquids or waxes.

KandyPens K-Vape Micro-DX vs Pax 2

KandyPens K-Vape Micro-DX vs Pax 2

In the portable vaporizer debate, the Pax 2 usually wins. But the Micro DX absolutely gives the Pax 2 a run for its money.

For one thing, the Pax 2 costs $279.99 – that’s almost $100 more than the Micro DX.

Both vaporizers offer a similar performance, but the Pax 2’s oven is smaller than the Micro DX’s – 0.3g vs. 0.5g.

The Micro DX also offers a digital display that lets you know how much battery you have left and the current temperature. Pax 2 doesn’t offer this. In fact, there are no precise temperature controls with the Pax 2, which puts it behind the Micro DX in terms of customization.

If you’re looking for a vaporizer that gives you control over the heating temperature, the Micro DX is exactly what you need.

The only thing the Pax 2 has going for it is a unique modern design and its “social” mode. Aside from these two things, the Micro DX is the clear winner. Is it worth paying nearly $100 more just for a sleek design and a “Party Mode”? Probably not.

While the Micro DX beats out the Pax 2 in terms of capacity, price and customization, it’s not a perfect device. Let’s review the things we liked and didn’t like about this unit.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Precise digital temperature controls with a huge range
  • Affordable
  • Huge filling chamber
  • Convection heating prevents the combustion of herbs
  • The device remembers your last temp setting, so you can start vaping quickly

Cons

  • Not compatible with waxes or liquids

k-vape microdx coupon

It would have been nice for Kandy Pens to make this unit compatible with oils or waxes, but it’s hard to complain at this price point. For under $200, you can’t beat the performance of this vaporizer.

The Micro DX is one of Kandy Pen’s best portable vaporizers, and it beats most of the competition when it comes to customization, price and oven capacity.

With True Convection Heating, your herbs won’t combust, and you have the option of choosing between 80 different temperature settings for a truly personalized vaping experience.

It doesn’t get much better than that – especially at this sub $200 price point.

Crafty Vaporizer

Storz and Bickel are the makers of some of the most widely-acclaimed vaporizers, including the Mighty, which is another portable vaporizer, and the Volcano, one of the best desktop vaporizers on the market. The Crafty is the smallest vaporizer that Storz and Bickel makes and for those who want an incredible amount of control over their portable vaping experience, the Crafty may be the perfect choice.

Crafty Vaporizer Review

Volcano Crafty Vaporizer

Basic Information

Measuring 4.3” x 2.2” x 1.3 (HLW) and weighing only 135g, the Crafty is truly a portable vaporizer, fitting into one hand with ease. The outer case is made of rigid plastic and the majority of the surface is vented, which not only helps to dissipate the vapor’s heat, but makes the vaporizer easier to grip as well.

The Crafty uses a hybrid heating method, combining full convection with conduction, which takes advantage of convection heating’s efficiency and conduction heating’s speed. The unit is powered by a single lithium-ion battery and takes advantage of Bluetooth technology, allowing users to control its settings via a smartphone app.

Crafty Pros

Temperature control

Unlike its big brother, the Mighty vaporizer, the Crafty does not have temperature controls on the actual unit itself. Rather, temperature and other settings are controlled via a specialized smartphone app that allows you to choose from a range of temperatures, rather than having to select from preset options.

Pass-through charging

One of the negatives with the Crafty is its short battery life (see below), but this somewhat mitigated by its pass-through charging capability, which allows you to recharge and vape at the same time.

Vape quality

Right out of the box, the Crafty was creating vapor that was smooth and clean-tasting. Not once did we experience any scorching, either of our lungs or of our herb. One of our reviewers, who owns a Volcano, said that the Crafty’s vape quality was on par with that of the aforementioned desktop unit, which is high praise indeed.

Packing tool

There are few things more frustrating than carefully grinding up your herb only to have half of it miss your vaporizer’s chamber and end up on the floor or stuck in the vaporizer’s crevices. This does not happen with the Crafty, as it comes with an awesome packing tool that eliminates herb waste. We love that kind of efficiency.

s4Possible Cons

crafty vaporizer

Internal battery

A problem with the battery likely means a trip back to the manufacturer because the Crafty’s battery is internal, meaning that it is built into the unit and cannot be removed. That said, problems with Storz and Bickel vaporizers do not often occur. There’s many reasons why they are the makers of some of the most popular vaporizers, and quality of build is one of them.  If this is a concern, there strong warranty should ease that for you.

Battery life

The Crafty takes about two hours to fully charge. On a full charge, we were able to get in about 50 minutes of vaping. This is somewhat disappointing, as most vaporizers give at least one hour’s worth of vaping and at this price, we honestly expected more. However, the pass-through charging ability helps make up for some of this.

Automatic shut-off

This is by no means a rare feature, and it is one that we genuinely appreciate, but the Crafty’s automatic shut-off kicks in after one minute of being idle. One. Minute. Obviously, this can be irritating, especially for those who like to vape leisurely, enjoying each draw before taking another.

Price

At around $340, the Crafty is one of the pricier vaporizers, especially when you consider that the Mighty only costs about $60 more. However, those familiar with Storz and Bickel products know that their quality is second to none. You may have to replace other vaporizers, but a Storz and Bickel vaporizer, like the Crafty, will last you a long time.

Our Crafty Verdict

crafty app

The Crafty is our pick for the best overall portable vaporizer under $400, despite its less-than-impressive battery life.  If you are paying more than this for a portable unit, you should upgrade to The Mighty model, but for around $300, The Crafty is a great choice.

It creates vapor that is comparable to that of larger, more powerful units, but is small enough to fit inside one hand comfortably. It allows for precise temperature control and the adjustment of other settings, but remains very user-friendly. Loading is a breeze and the flip out mouthpiece means you do not have to put your vaporizer together before you can vape, which is a great feature when you’re out and about.

Mighty Vaporizer

The Mighty Vaporizer is one of the portable vaporizers from Storz and Bickel, the maker of some of the most popular vaporizers including the Volcano.

volcano mighty portable vaporizer

Save 20% With DUDE20 Coupon

The Mighty is the bigger version of the Crafty and while it is not exactly pocket-friendly, it is a solid and consistent performer and a great option for those who don’t mind a bulkier unit.

The Mighty is a conduction-convection hybrid portable vaporizer powered by dual lithium-ion batteries.

It is, without a doubt, one of the most powerful vaporizers of its kind, as well as one of the most expensive, costing around $400. Like the Crafty, it has a rigid plastic body that is mostly covered in heat vents, although the Mighty also has a digital display and temperature controls on its front. It measures 14.0 x 8.0 x 3.0 cm and weighs 235g, making it one of the larger and heavier portable units available.

Mighty Vape Pros

portable mighty vaporizer

Pass-through charging

The Mighty can be used and charged at the same time, much like the Crafty. The difference is that with the Mighty, the battery can be completely drained and you can still vape with it, while with the Crafty, there needed to be at least 20% power left.

Consistent, high-quality vapor

The Mighty produces a vapor that would make some desktop vaporizers envious. Draw after draw, the Mighty creates clouds of smooth, potent, great-tasting vapor. Its output is pretty amazing, especially for a portable unit. And the vapor that is produced is always cool, so no scorched lungs or coughing fits.

Digital display and precise temperature control

The Mighty is big enough that its body can accommodate both a digital display that tells you the temperature and the battery life as well as the controls to manipulate the temperature down to the degree. You can do this with the Crafty too, but it requires the use of an app. We much prefer having everything we need directly on the vaporizer.

Mighty Vape Concerns

Bulky

It’s hard to imagine pulling out the Mighty in public and vaping like you would with a less conspicuous vaporizer. The Mighty’s design is bulky, almost like a walkie-talkie, and very noticeable. It might fit into your pockets if you have giant pockets, but for anyone else, it’ll be a tight and uncomfortable fit.

Mighty vs Crafty

Mighty vs Crafty
Size Is Not The Only Difference

While substantially smaller than The Mighty unit, The Crafty holds it own in terms of flavor and vapor quality.

However, it does have about half the battery life.

That means the choice will come down to longer battery life and a larger overall size (Mighty) vs more portability but with less battery life (Crafty).   In our opinion, you cannot go wrong with either model or any Storz & Bickel model vaporizer.

How Much Does The Mighty Cost?

Price

The Mighty costs around $349, which is a great deal more than most other portable vaporizers. Yes, Storz and Bickel products are always of the highest quality, but that is still quite a hefty price tag. If budget is your main concern, you can get similar performance from other Storz and Bickel portable units.

Save 20% Off With DUDE20

Shop Now

Especially when you consider its 90-minute battery life and the fact that it is portable according to the definition—you can move it around and vape wherever you want—but not so much in practice, due to its noticeable size.

However, there is no doubt that the increased size helps with better vapor quality and improved performance.

Our Mighty Vaporizer Verdict

The Mighty has the best vapor quality out of every portable vaporizer that we have tested, so if that is your main concern, then get the Mighty because you will not be disappointed.

In fact, aside from its size and price, the Mighty is an ideal portable vaporizer, providing precise temperature control, user-friendliness, and a sturdy, efficient design that promises to consistently produce potent, smooth vapor for years to come.

Arizer Air

Portable vaporizers are growing in popularity, a fact that is reflected in the sheer number of options that you have when they go to purchase one in 2016. The one that is “best” will be the one that best suits your budget, your needs, and your desires and, if you are looking for an inexpensive portable unit but do not want to sacrifice quality, then the Arizer Air is definitely the ideal buy for you.

Arizer Air Review

arizer air vaporizer

The Arizer Air is the successor to the highly-popular Arizer Solo. It improves upon the original’s design while still maintaining the quality that made the Solo such a favorite.

The Air is smaller than the solo, measuring 122mm by 29mm, but it still delivers the same kind of high-quality vapor.

The Air has five different temperature settings from which to choose, with the highest being 410F. In our testing, we found that the lower settings were our favorite, as it did not take as long for the device to warm up to those temperatures and it better maintained the taste of the herb.

Arizer Air Pros

Arizer Air Review

Swappable batteries

The Arizer Air uses external batteries, which means that they are replaceable.

This is in contrast to vaporizers that use an internal battery, which is a much larger hassle. With the Air, if something goes wrong with a battery, you can just pop it out and replace it.

When the battery is built into the unit, a problem with the battery usually means that you will have to send it back to the manufacturer for repairs.

Price

[heading subtitle=””]Priced at around $270, the Arizer Air is one of the less expensive vaporizers on the market today. [/heading]

price-check

Pass-through charging

The Air can be used while it is on the charger, meaning that as long as you have access to a power source, you never have to wait for your vaporizer to recharge.

Concealable

The Air resembles other e-liquid vapes and is much less conspicuous than many other vaporizers. In places where laws are more draconian, this camouflage is necessary.

Easy to use

To use the Air, you simply hold down the one button on the front to turn it on, then use the same button to cycle through the five different temperature settings, which range from 356F to 410F. The Air is also easy to pack—you pull the mouthpiece out and scoop out material with the bowl at its base. As long as your grinder works well, you shouldn’t need any specialized tools.

A Few Possible Drawback From Our Arizer Air Vape Tests

Warm-up time

The Air takes about 2 minutes to heat up. This is a bit longer than some other models, such as the Firefly, and makes it ill-suited for sneaky, on-the-fly vaping. If you’re the type who wants to be able to whip out your vape and take a quick hit every so often, this two minute warm-up time may be too much to make the Air useful.   However, we find it is well worth the small warm up time because the quality of the vapor is drastically improved versus the cheaper, combustion based models.

Fragile

The Air’s mouthpieces are made of glass (yes, plural—the Air comes with two different mouthpieces), making it more fragile than other vaporizers. This impacts its portability; you can’t throw this into a backpack or let it sit haphazardly in your pocket.   On the one hand, this is not a drawback because you want to take care of any vape in the price range and the extra care required when handling this model can help you take care of your investment for many years.

Arizer Air vs Solo

Arizer Air vs Solo
Arizer Air vs Solo Size Comparison

For many of us, the Arizer Solo was the introduction into high end vaporizers.

Before the Solo was on the market, portable devices were mostly modded e-cig style pens that struggled to provide consistent vapor quality.   The Arizer Solo changed the market for ever, in fact it is still selling quite well and the value is starting to go back up in 2016.

The good news is that the Air model is half the total size of the Air and is much easier to take with you on the go.  For our testing, vape quality is the deciding factor and the vapor quality is nearly identical with the Arizer Air.

The flavor and fullness is among the best vapes we have ever tested- that includes desktop units like Da Buddha and the Volcano.

Our Verdict

At around $270, the Air is one of the least expensive portable vaporizers of high quality.

It provides a decent number of customizability options, great-tasting and potent vapor, is easy to use, and provides plenty camouflage for vaping on the down low.

If you can handle the longer-than-usual warm-up time and aren’t afraid of the glass stems, then the Air is a great, low-priced vaporizer that should not be ignored.

Pax 2 Vaporizer

Pax 2 Review

Introducing The iPhone Of Vaporizers

How do you improve on the best selling vaporizer of all time?

Well, you take a little bit of Apple magic and reduce the size by 25% and also reduce the weight by 10%.

pax 2 for sale

The original Pax By Ploom vaporizer was instantly a hit with portable vape users for the ease of use and of course how portable it was. Some users still swear by the original Pax Ploom to this day. But we feel that the Pax 2 Vaporizer takes the evolution a step further.

How does it compare to the original?

Pax 1 vs Pax 2

Keep in mind that both versions are very easy to take on the go with you, but the 25% size reduction is amazing. Whats more, the unit is now easier to use and keep charged.

Finding a good pocket vaporizer is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. At least that was the case until Pax 2 hit the scene. This palm-sized vaporizer is sleeker, slimmer and more efficient than its predecessor (the original Pax). And the vape quality? Superb. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this vaporizer tick.

The Pax 2 is the successor to Ploom’s highly successful original Pax. Its price tag, small size, and vapor make it the perfect vaporizer for the vaper on a budget who does not want to sacrifice build or vapor quality.

If you liked the original Pax, or if you’re new to vaping and don’t want to spend your entire paycheck on a vaporizer, the Pax 2 is definitely worth a look.

Pax 2 Primer: Basic Information

The second edition of the Pax vaporizer features a slimmer, sleeker design with an anodized aluminum surface. It comes in cool colors, too, like Topaz, Charcoal, Flare, Platinum and Gold. Standing just 3.87” tall, this is a vaporizer that fits in your back pocket – and with a stealthy design, no one will ever know you’re using a vaporizer.

pax-2-colors

The Pax 2 takes less than a minute to heat up. When it’s ready to go, the LCD indicator will turn green. Inside, the vaporizer uses a stainless steel Kapton heater flex, which is thin and lightweight. The magnetic oven lid is easy to open and close, so you can start using the Pax 2 as quickly as possible.

And get this – Pax 2 knows when you’re not using it. It detects motion and automatically goes into stand-by mode to conserve battery (and its oven contents) when it’s not in use. If you don’t use the device for about 20 seconds, it will automatically go into standby mode. And the motion sensing also helps regulate temperature, so you never overheat your material.

Like the original Pax, this vaporizer has a very simple design with just one button that turns the device on and off. The LED lights will change from purple to green when it’s ready for use.

Just for fun, the makers of Pax have included a “Social” or “Party” mode, which creates a variety of color-changing effects. Hidden games are also included, but you’ll have to discover these yourself. Let’s just say that if you love Simon Says and Funky Town, you’ll have fun with the Pax 2.

Here’s a rundown of Pax 2’s features:

  • High capacity battery for 30% more usage time
  • Deeper oven for efficient, even heating
  • Four heat settings
  • Motion sensing technologies to optimize temperature and power
  • One-button interface
  • Minimal maintenance
  • Magnetic USB charging dock
  • 25% smaller than the original Pax and 10% lighter

The Pax 2 is a conduction vaporizer priced at around $279. It is smaller and lighter than the original Pax and produces better, smoother vapor more consistently over a longer period of time. It is, in every way, an improvement on the original Pax.

Did we mention the Pax 2 is backed by a 10-year warranty? You’ll be getting years of use out of this vaporizer, so it’s well worth the price.

Pax 2 Vaporizer Pros

the Weeknd Pax

Portability

The Pax 2 only weighs 90g and it is one of the smallest portable vaporizers currently available. In other words, it is extremely portable and pocket-friendly.

On top of this, it has a rugged design that makes it ideal for on-the-go action.

We’re not saying you can or should be extremely rough with it, but you don’t have to worry about it as much as you would have to worry about a vaporizer like the Arizer Air with its glass stems.

Price

At $279, the Pax 2 is one of the cheapest vaporizers that still manages to measure up as a quality product. It is well-built and produces great vapor and if you can do without the bells and whistles of other vaporizers, the Pax 2 is a solid option.

Lip-sensing technology

This is actually a really cool feature. The Pax 2 has the ability to sense whenever it is or is not in use and reacts accordingly. A common complaint with conduction vaporizers is that they burn while no one is vaping—the lip-sensing tech is the manufacturer’s answer to that. The device lowers the temperature on its own when it does not sense that it is in use. When you put your lips back on it to take another draw, the oven quickly heats up again.

Pax 2 Cons (Nothing Major But Worth Noting)

pax 2 sale

Preset temperatures

The Pax 2 has four preset temperature settings and that’s the extent to which users can customize their vaping experience. While we prefer the option to precisely set our vaporizer’s temperature, like we can on the Mighty or the Crafty, we also realize that the Pax 2 is over $100 cheaper than either of them.

For some, sacrificing control for the reduced price tag may be well worth it.

Conduction Heating

The Pax 2 uses conduction heating, which is less efficient than convection, which some say may result in more wasted material.

Conduction heating can also cause the vapor to have a slightly burnt taste, and the Pax 2 is no exception, though we did not experience that enough for it to be a real complaint.  Picky vapors, however, may find it as a drawback.

In our real world tests, we saw no increase in used materials or aftertaste. In fact, we enjoyed the combustion in this model as the draws were fuller and more consistent.

How To Use The Pax 2

[youtube id=”hUh5RdRQY0s” width=”700″ height=”395″ position=”center”]

The Pax 2 is so easy to use. The first thing you want to do is charge up your vaporizer. Once it’s fully charged, remove the magnetic mouthpiece and fill the oven. Pax recommends packing firmly for the best possible vaping experience.

Now, replace the lid and choose a mouthpiece. Your device will come with a flat and raised mouthpiece, so choose which one feels most comfortable for you.

Once the mouthpiece is attached, press the button to turn the device on. Pax 2 only takes about a minute to heat up. As mentioned earlier, the lights will change from purple to green when it’s ready for use. While it’s heating up, do not pull from the device.

One great thing about Pax 2 is that it lets you adjust the temperature setting while you’re vaping. There are four settings, which are indicated by the LED lights. To change the heating settings, hold the button down for an extended press. You’ll know you’re in heating mode when the petals change from green, to yellow, to orange and finally, red. To exit the heating mode, press the button down again for an extended press, or shaking the vaporizer.

How To Clean Your Pax Vaporizer

Cleaning and Maintenance

Just like usage, cleaning and maintenance of the Pax 2 is so easy. The mouthpiece and the oven lid are easily removable, so you can clean both sides with a pipe cleaner and Q-Tip. The manufacturer recommends dipping your pipe cleaner and Q-Tip in isopropyl alcohol first to thoroughly clean each piece. You’ll get a bottle when you purchase the Pax 2.

The oven screen will pop out when you push the pipe cleaner through the device. Just place the screen in the isopropyl alcohol to clean it before placing it back into the device.

Make sure all of the pieces are dry before you put the device back together. And for best results, clean after every couple of uses.

Our Pax 2 Verdict

pax 2 colors

Its tough, rugged design, small size, and low weight make it ideal for pockets and sly vaping sessions.   For 2016, there is a whole new twist on the marquee Pax vaporizer with the Pax 2 Sandwich, water tools and party mode updates.

Aside from the lip-sensing technology, the Pax 2 is largely a “no frills” vaporizer, but the vapor it produces is potent, smooth and quite tasty, which is what we think is most important. In the end, this updated model comes with lots of improvements over the original Pax vaporizer and is still the sleekest vaporizer around.

With thousands of satisfied users, it’s hard not to recommend the Pax 2 for any vape enthusiast.

SideKick Vaporizer

Can The SideKick Vaporizer Reign Supreme as The Best Portable of 2016?

Sidekick Vaporizers from 7th Floor Vapes

With a name like “SideKick,” it’s hard to overlook this new vaporizer. 7th Floor Vape has done a good job at pre-promoting their products, and everyone is asking about this new portable vaporizer. Will it be the best portable model of 2016?

We’re honestly not sure.

This is a brand new vaporizer that still hasn’t shipped out. It is expected that the product will ship in mid-to-late January, so we have not had the luxury of trying out this vaporizer for ourselves. It’s a real shame because we’ve heard about the product for months, and we still haven’t been able to get a hold of a review copy of this model.

Sidekick Vape Review

One of the company’s personnel offered insight into this model, and noted its best features and specs.

Glass mouthpiece

The glass mouthpiece is removable, and you can customize it to your own preference. There will be several different mouthpiece options available, but what makes this one special is that it’s made from hand-blown glass right in the United States.

Glass is superior to plastic models that hold onto the taste and smell of old vaporizing sessions.

In this department, we assume that you’ll be able to experience the best possible vapor with each and every puff. Being handcrafted, you’ll know that these mouthpieces are made of the highest quality at all times.

Vortex cooling rod

A cooling rod looks a lot like a spring. You’ll be using this to wrap a vapor pack, so that you can get two times the amount of cool vapor into your mouth.

The great thing about this rod is that you’ll be able to pack far more material into a smaller device. You simply place it into the interior vapor chamber, which takes just seconds, and you’re done.

If you’re used to warm or hot vapor, it’s because your vaporizer doesn’t have of these cooling rods included. This allows for the best tasting vapor all packed into the small, portable SideKick vaporizer.

Stirring bowl

The stirring bowl is definitely a major improvement over any vaporizer on the market today. The SideKick provides you with something just a little bit different – stir your bowl while it bakes. And this has been incorporated into each vaporizer seamlessly.

You’ll be able to stir your bowl at your own leisure, and never have to worry about missing out on the great taste again.

The ability to stir your bowl allows you to extract the utmost in flavor during vaporization, and you won’t have to worry about your herb burning at the same time. It’s definitely one of the features that people have been asking for, and it has been brought to you by 7th Floor vapes.

Digital display

The digital display is a great feature for any portable vaporizer. The LCD screen allows you to have full control over your vaporizing experience. All you need to do is:

  • Turn on your unit
  • Turn on the display

You’ll be able to view your battery life, temperature settings and several other settings. There are three buttons that allow you to control all of the settings right through the LCD screen, and the screen is small enough that it does not utilize a lot of battery when in use.

What I really like about the screen is that you’ll be able to adjust the temperature to your desired setting.

I don’t know the exact parameters for maximum and minimum temperatures offered, and I cannot find any of this information listed on the company’s website.

Ceramic bowl

The final main feature of this model is the ceramic bowl. 7th Floor Vapes was one of the first manufacturers in the world to use ceramic in their products, and the SideKick vaporizer will always come with the ceramic bowl included.

This is simply an optimal material for any vaporizing need.

What so special about ceramic?

Ceramic prevents the heating element from oxidizing. This means that you won’t lose flavor during the vaporization process, and you’ll lose less herb to excess heat. It’s the perfect solution for anyone who is just starting out vaporizing, or advanced users that want to take their vaporizing experience on the go.

The SideKick vaporizer is small and durable. While we are sure that this product will be as great as other models by 7th Floor, we haven’t had the pleasure of testing it out for ourselves. From what we do understand, this model will cost $235 and is priced in line with other portable models on the market.

And 7th Floor is known for producing some of the best vaporizers on the market today, so we’re sure the quality will be superb.

Sidekick vs Arizer Air

How does the SideKick compare to the Arizer Air? Well, the Arizer costs $25 more, and has five different temperature settings. The unit does offer a glass aroma dish, and also uses glass diffuser stems.

The SideKick offers a ceramic heating element and chamber as well as vortex cooling.

Just from specs alone, we would have to go with the SideKick being the winner when comparing these two models.

Sidekick vs Pax 2

The Pax 2 is arguably the best portable vaporizer in existence today. This model not only surpasses user expectations, but the Pax 2 produces one heck of a vapor each and every time. With the built-in games, it’s a lot of fun to use even when you’re not using it for its intended purpose – vaporizing. Does this mean it’s better than the SideKick?

I wouldn’t go as far as saying that. It’s hard to make a comparison when we haven’t thoroughly tested the SideKick.

But we do know that the Pax is more expensive, and it doesn’t offer the glass mouthpiece that its counterpart offers.

Don’t underestimate the glass mouthpiece – it will make a huge difference in your vaping experience.

The oven of the Pax 2 is stainless steel, while the SideKick vaporizer offers a ceramic oven (which I personally prefer). How is the vapor itself? This is the million-dollar question and one that I have been wondering about for quite some time.

If the SideKick can utilize its strengths, it may be able to surpass the Pax 2 in terms of overall vapor quality. And don’t forget, you’ll also be able to stir the contents of your bowl when you’re vaping, which is something that the Pax seemingly fails at.

The SideKick vaporizer sounds very good on paper, and we have very high hopes for this model. Much like all of the other people in the industry, we are eagerly awaiting its release. Many people state that they will plunk down the money to give this model a try, but they are concerned about the actual release date of this model.

When you’re going to spend over $200 for vaporizer, you want some form of a guarantee that it will be released at a specific date.

The good news is that the company has recently announced that they will be shipping this product in mid-to-late January, so if you can wait a little bit, you’ll be able to get this product within a month from writing this post.
